Pip’s Sleepy Sky is a nightly CBT calm-down journal for kids 5-8. It runs the same gentle 5-minute wind-down every night: naming and setting aside the day’s worries, slow belly breathing, and a head-to-toe squeeze-and-release to help a wound-up body settle.
Each night, in four tiny steps a 5-year-old can almost do themselves: – Park tonight’s worries as stars. The child draws each worry as a star up in the Worry Sky and lets the sky hold it until tomorrow — real cognitive offloading (worry-time), so worries stop looping at lights-out instead of being talked about and made bigger. – Dim the sky — calm the body. Three slow belly breaths, then a head-to-toe squeeze-and-release, to settle the wound-up body (the step most bedtime routines skip). – Draw one good thing from today, and color the sleepy face that matches how settled they feel.
Because it’s the same short ritual every night, there’s zero decision-load at 8pm — the page runs the routine, you just support. A filled example page shows a finished night, and a 21-Night Sky lets your child color one star each night to see their calm-down streak grow.
Why it’s different: a genuinely 5-8 nightly journal (big type, draw/color/point, face-scales — no fluent writing) that calms the busy brain AND the wound-up body, not a one-off worry worksheet or a sticker sleep chart. A grown-ups quick-start + a coach note and a when-to-seek-more-help note sit together on the final page.
